Coming together is a powerful thing and alongside Iranti, we created a space for collective conversations around what it meant to be LGBTQ+ online. The event brought together academics, media practitioners, social media influencers, religious representatives, and so many more to unpack and understand how the internet space held queer people, from finding community to navigating hurdles and finding pockets of safety and violence the space was one within which people came to share their experiences. It was a time to create content that brought light, rainbows and joy during South Africa’s Pride Month.
